All schools require a track record or a case history of the child (like the medical case history available in hospitals) to explore the student’s origin, parents occupation, academic performance, co-curricular activities, etc. Therefore the student handbook and teacher handbook which can be maintained in the name of ‘Portfolio’ and its importance was given in the meeting. The same was conducted as a session wherein the agenda was as follows:
Before the start of the session teachers of all grades were grouped into a team of either 10 or 11 teachers. Then an introduction on Pearsons limited statistics on Tier I, II & III types of child learning and their respective percentages was given. The role of teachers in upbringing the students to perform well and succeed was also shared by the HR Team. Later a case study sample was given and they were asked to work in teams altogether and write the points in a chart that was already bifurcated into quarter of Observation, Diagnosis, Remediation/ Evaluation Tool and Student Outcome.
Post which Mr.Abinath – MD shared in detail how to prepare the chart and make an effective team wise presentation emphasizing the need for observation, diagnosis, remediation / evaluation tool and student outcome respectively. Later the teachers were given with 20 minutes time to work on the chart and each team was asked to make a presentation for 7 minutes. Each team presented after discussing the case study given to them, after presentation the Managing Director & Director Academics probed in about the presented points in each quarter.
Finally, the importance of ‘Portfolios’ was shared with the team. A hardcopy of the portfolio was distributed to the teachers to collect feedback and inputs if any.

Portfolios provide valuable data about the students’ achievements, academic progress and skills mastery. It is yet another initiative taken by the Management to understand the growth of a student over time, promote a student’s abilities and also to evaluate the student’s learning within a precise course.
