Of all , great challenges lying ahead in life, the greatest is the tendency of adapting to change . The educational leaders are faced with the demands of a rapidly changing global environment. The tasks of preparing future citizens require the skill of leadership and the attitude for lifelong learning. In connection with the World Teachers Day on October 5th, a fete of knowledge sharing session ” EduFest’ 12 “ is organized by our Sri Aurobindo Mira Group of Educational Institutions under the guidance of experts from various fields. We are here to support the architects to shape the destiny inside the classroom through this initiative – Edufest.

2. To promote professional solidarity among the aspirant teachers and teachers of all levels.
“The aim of education is not knowledge but an action”, proving this saying Sri Aurobindo Mira group of educational institutions has taken its first step which is a great leap for every teacher in her career. EduFest the learners platform was organized on October 5,2012 (on World Teachers day) with the objective of creating an awareness on all varied pedagogies emerging around the world and to promote professional solidarity amongst the aspirant teachers and teachers of all levels. The teachers and teachers -in-the -making from various institutions like TVS groups, Velammal, Railway mixed school, SDH Jain, St.Joseph, St.Michael, Mont Litera Zee, Colleges of education- Thiagarajar college of Preceptors, St.Justin, St.Charles, Crescent, CSI, Balaji , TVS all participated with great zeal in the event. 60 team of teachers did their first round of presentation on “Catering multiple intelligences inside the classroom”. Shortlisted teams did the working model of Classroom presentation of the same . The overwhelming responses reflected the enthusiasm of the passionate teachers team.
The noetic conclave continued on 6th October 2012 also with more feast for the senses through Plenary sessions and Panel discussions.The day’s schedule started with the inauguration by Mr.M.V.Muthuramalingam Chairman Velammal Educational Trust and Dr.Muthuchelian Vice Chancellor , Salem Periyar University . Pedagogue the teachers magazine from SAM college of Education – title was launched on the day. Plenary session of Mr.Shiladhithya Ghosh on Classroom innovation and teacher education threw light on the new ways of making the classroom more interesting and Mrs.Shobana Vaidyanathan’s ( Director Centre for Montessori training) session on Montessori method of education introduced the Teacher trainees to the benefits of self learning experiences . The panel discussions on Teachers identities led by Dr.Gibson G Vedamani, Founder, CEO Sharon Wayne Inc, Mumbai, where Mr.Raja Govindamy Director- Self Finance Mannar Thirumalai Nayakar college, Madurai , Dr.Jahitha Begum Associate professor & Head, Dept.of Education, Gandhigram university , Mrs.Shobana Vaidyanathan,Director Centre for Montessori training Chennai and Mr.Shiladhithya Ghosh participated and hashed out the changing roles of teachers and the expectations of society from a teacher.
The panel discussion on Empowering students for global challenges led by Dr.Krishnan Swaminathan Consultant Endocrinologist and diabetologist from Apollo Hospitals Madurai spotlit the issues with Mrs.Premalatha Pannerselvam, Senior Principal ,Mahatma schools, Mrs.Princess Franklyn, Principal St.John’s High School,Bengaluru, Mr.Bhojraj, consultant counselor TOPKIDS, Mr.Ganeshkumar Ramanthan, Manager National Partner, Microsoft corporation, Bengaluru. Emphasizing value based education with technology competency was predominantly highlighted on the confluence. Roles of parents and teachers in upbringing the kid was also shared and it was finally accepted that with the more quality time being spent in the school and with the different family setup the teachers role is tremendous in bringing out the change that they wish to see in them. The culmination of this two day event was the valedictory program. Dr.Kalyani Mathivanan, Vice Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University addressed the gathering as the Chief guest of the day. She advised the teachers to update themselves through such training programs.Deliberations of such events should be implemented that is the true spirit of the event. Mentor accolades were given away to all the 6 winning team by Dr.Kalyani Mathivanan. Railway Mixed emerged as Winner winning Rs.10,000), Lakshmi School Veerapanchan as Runner I (Rs.7,000), TVS R& D as the Runner 2 (Rs.5,000). Among the Colleges of Education, St.Charles college of education emerged as winner(Rs.7,000) , St.Justin’s as Runner 1(Rs.5,000) and TVS teacher training academy as Runner 2 (Rs.3,000). It was also announced by our Patron Chairman Dr.Chandran that this wasn’t an end but the end of a new beginning and the EduFest would be a regular feature of Sri Aurobindo groups of institutions and would be celebrated year on year. Director Abilash Chandran and Joint director Abinath Chandran were present on the occasion. Principals, correspondents and teachers from various institutions in and around Madurai participated in the occasion.
