Field trip to Biscuit factory_Grade 1_Aug 03
Fieldtrip to a biscuit factory
Consumption is the sole end and the purpose of all production.
– Adam Smith
To inculcate this value of production the students of Grade 1 were taken for a fieldtrip to a biscuit
factory on 03.08.19 (Saturday). In this field trip the children were able to witness the preparation,
processing like raw materials testing, mixing, molding, baking, cooling and packing.
Before we set our foot in to the factory Ms.Fathima gave a brief explanation about the factory and
production of products in the factory. She ignited about cottage industries and present modern
factories. She also explained the sustainable development goals like- industry innovation and
infrastructure and she bracketed with responsible consumption and production.
Once we entered the factory the children were very much eager to know what they are going to
witness in the factory. First the students were taken to the auditorium where they watched a video
clipping about the history of Parle-g through animations which cleared them about the sweat and
blood behind the hard work of the founders. After the video session we went inside the factory and
witnessed the production of biscuits.
It is praise worthy to mention that the preparation of biscuits was untouched. We saw the raw
materials, and the processing works behind the preparation of each biscuit. The children were able to
witness how the labours were working sincerely and meticulously to produce healthy biscuits for us.
The packed biscuits were safely set in the carton boxes for distribution. The children analyzed all
these processes and they were asking many questions for clarity. The children cherished the beautiful
moment by taking a group photo.
On their return trip though the students were tired they were discussing about the events they
witnessed in this fieldtrip. The students assured that they will not waste food in near future. With a
great learning we returned back to QMIS.
