Report on the Field Trip to Antenna Eco Park

To teach the kids the concept of farming and the steps followed in it, a field trip was planned to Antenna Eco Park We started from the school at 09.35 AM and reached there at 10.00 AM. At first, we entered the Fish Farm to observe the various types of fishes in the Park. The co-ordinator Ms.Anitha briefed us on the breed of fish and steps taken them. The Students took notes about the Types of Fishes and the precautionary measures told by Ms.Anitha.
They observed the different types of plants that was widely present in the park. The advantages of algae and fungi were well described by Mr.Shanmuga Sundaram, the care taker of the Algae and Fungi Farm. The Advantages of Spirulina – A type of Algae and the methods to Grow them was also explained.
The process of cultivating Mushroom was shown and it was detailed and the spawn was given to the students to preserve it. The students were also detailed about the ways to take care of the Mushroom in each and every stage of its growth. Subsequently the students had their lunch and boarded the vehicle at 01.10 PM and reached school at 02.00 PM.
