“Be a true traveller don’t be a temporary tourist”
QMIS has planned a trek to Karandhamalai which is a picturesque village in the Perumalai hill
ranges of Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu. This location will be ideal for kids to learn about the rural
life of Tamil Nadu. It’s a sort of Photographer’s Paradise.
On the 20th of July, 2019, The Adventure Club of QMIS organized a trip to Karandhamalai which is
45km from the school. The students along with 15 teachers started their adventurous journey at 7.00
am from the school. At around 09.30 am the bus reached Karandhamalai.
‘Trekking is a great way to reduce stress in our lives’, because of the release of endorphins, which are
known to make us happy! Taking in the fresh air and nature around you helps improve your mental
health, and it is believed that it will improve the function of the brain.
The Team QMIS, with so much enthusiasm and excitement, started trekking on the rough terrain. We
trekked across thick forests, bushes and rocky trails. Trekking is undoubtedly a value to physical
fitness but its aim is not to produce athletes. It is an activity which develops a real love for the
mountain region and appreciation for its grandeur. Though it was tiresome, the experience of
trekking truly fascinated the children.
Children enjoyed singing while climbing the mountain. They had lots of fun, enjoyment, dancing,
playing and exploring things around. With the same enthusiasm we trekked down and had lunch.
These cherishing memories stood strong in the children’s minds. We boarded the bus at 4p.m and
reached the school at 5.30p.m. We extend kind regards to all those who made this day wonderful.
