Aadukalam march 18 – Day 2
“Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a Desire, a Dream and a Vision.”
Sports Day brings new energy in the hearts and minds of the children. A sound mind resides in a sound body. Sports and games help in large muscle co – ordination resulting in physical fitness apart from inculcating Sportsmanship, leadership, unity and competitive spirit among the students.
The much awaited “Aadukalam 2017 –‘18” Day 2, was held on 21st March, 2018 with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The prelims were conducted for all the field and track events in the morning.
The programme began with an invocation to God by the School choir. Ms. Sheebha, HR Manager welcomed the esteemed gathering and emphasised on the importance of sport’s in a child’s life. Dr. C. Chandran introduced and honoured the Chief Guest of the day Mr. Badri Narayanan, Para badminton player. He gave an inspirational speech by sharing his real life experiences. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way by the Olympic torch relay done by the young achievers of QMIS followed by the oath taking ceremony of the young athlete’s. The Chief Guest of the day declared “Aadukalam 2017-‘18” open.
Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Students competed in events like sprints, hurdles, relays, shot put and long jump. The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers constantly applauded the participants of the field & track events. Students cheered for their teams with high spirits. To add to the excitement and fervour of “Aadukalam” parents were also given an opportunity to take part in track and field events.
The prize distribution ceremony was conducted in a grand manner. As the winners stood on the Victory stand, a thunderous applause along with fireworks in the sky stole the show. The event drew to a close with the declaration of the results, a moment which everyone had been waiting for with bated breath. The individual overall championships were announced and students were awarded for the same. The overall Championship was announced after a countdown. The runners up was announced as team “Sushrutha” with a score of 178 points and the overall Championship was bagged by team “Bhaskara” with a total of 318 points. It was a glorious moment for the winning team as they lifted the overall Championship trophy.
Ms. Ezhil Roja, Coordinator of Grades 8 & 9, delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated the students for their participation, parents for rendering their love and support, Management for their vision to promote Sports and the PE department for the massive effort put in to make “Aadukalam”, a grand success.
