Grade 10 Orientation Report

On the 18th of June 2016 Team QMIS organized an Academic Orientation session for the parents of grade 10.
The session commenced with a prayer song followed by which our Principal, Ms. Sujatha Guptan welcomed the gathering.
Ms. Sujatha happily announced the co-operation, involvement and dedication rendered by her team of teachers in bringing
an average of 8.6 CGPA in the 2015-2016 batch of grade X. Ms. Suganthi Gopi insisted on parents being interactive and
helped parents brainstorm the terminologies used at school. The parents who came out with a few terms that seemed like
jargons to them so long were given a brief explanation on the same. The components and benefits of the Continuous and
Comprehensive Evaluation were briefed. A detailed account of the Scholastic Grading System and the nuances of CGPA were given.
The schedule for the Formative and the Summative Assessments for the two terms were also told. Ms. Kalpana spoke on how parents
can help strengthen the score of their wards. The components of holistic development of a child were further elaborated by
Ms. Anita Rajesh, Ms. Kasthuri, Ms. Ananthi and Ms. Kalpana. Mr. Shivaraj, the branch manager of Seekers told about their academic
plan for Maths, Chemistry and Physics. He also insisted on parents to understand the need for the child to have a regular practise
for Mathematics. He highlighted how the seekers facilitate the children to face challenging question papers in their board examinations.
Furthermore, Ms. Anita Rajesh, the English teacher and Ms. Kasthuri, the Tamil teacher briefed about how the LSRW skills are assessed
and developed in English and Tamil respectively. Ms. Ananthi, the Biology teacher threw light on the active learning assessment tools
that make it easy for children to study Science. Ms. Kalpana brought out the significance and relevance of Social Science in today’s world.
Finally, Ms. Suganthi helped the parents understand how the Co-Scholastic component of holistic development helps bring out the child’s
originality to become useful members of the society as it focuses on the behavioural aspect of the child. She also gave a note on the
Promotion Policy of the CBSE. Ms. Kalpana enlightened the parents about the various options of career to help their child choose one.
The session came to a close as Ms. Sujatha emphasised on the need for the parents to trust in the Team QMIS’s consistent devotion in helping
their child attain greater heights in the grade X Board examinations.
