IDOLE IDIENNE – 2018
ZONE: MADURAI – SOUTH INDIA
French is considered as a musical language, Stevie Wonder has rightly said, “Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand”. A new study suggests that those who are trying to get to a grip on the French language they should try singing it instead.
This has been amply illustrated in the last month by the IATF (Indian Association of Teachers of French) organized the 5th Edition of its triennial event ‘Idole Indienne’, in association with the French Embassy – an All India Singing competition of French songs for students of French in schools, colleges and other French Institutions. Students who have barely started learning the language have been enthusiastically participating in the Elimination Rounds being conducted in different zones of the IATF.
The elimination round was conducted in south zone in the cities of Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Trivandrum respectively. The first winner in each zones of each category (Category I: Junior “age 12 – 17”, Category II: Senior “above 18 years”) will take part in semi finals in Chennai on 18th august 2018.

There were participants from various schools and colleges from Madurai and other neighboring cities in Category I we had 18 participants and Category II -12 participants in total. Each show cased their talents. In the Category I – the first position was awarded to Nishant Kumar of Grade 12 of Queen Mira International School, Madurai, for Category II – the first position was awarded to Jafrina of Fatima College, Madurai.
