One of the practices that still connects today’s modern generation with the rich culture of past is our Pongal festival. The festival is an epitome of the finest value of expressing gratitude i.e thanks giving which we need to educate our kids upon. Elaborate preparations to celebrate this harvest festival in the campus were done in advance.
Kalanjiyum- the village of tradition and store house of information was once again set in the premises of QMIS to make the festival more meaningful.Right from the entry to the exit the visitors were assured of a complete village ambience. The bullock cart, horse cart and tractors were arranged for the visitors to go around the venue. The exhibits of land forms and the village house set with the agricultural tools impressed the viewers. The traditional way of making Pongal in front of house was performed in the hut set in the campus. Our staff made the delicious Pongal and offered to the Almighty and the nature as a sign of thanking their support for the bounty in fields.
To disport the audience there were a galore of amusements and eateries. The different types of whirligigs (raatinam), village fun games, paniyara kadai, javv mitai, kuchi ice, tea stalls , Valayal kadai are some of the captivating factors in the fair. People also tested their braveness through tug of war, vazhukku maram , sugar cane eating competition and uri adi . None forget to relish the Sugar Cane and Sweet Pongal before they could call it a day.
Day was brought to an end with lots of frolic moments for every one to cherish till the next Pongal festive season.
