Students of Queen Mira International celebrated Pongal with fervor and festivity on 12.01.2018. They were decked up in their traditional attire and exhibited joy and pride as they filled the campus with the land’s cultural aura. The Department of Tamil organized effectively a plethora of programmes for the entertainment of the students. Various competitions marked the Pongal celebrations. Students were involved in Rangoli, folk singing, kabadi, the smashing of the Pinata – Uri adithal, sugar cane eating competition and other cultural events. At this happy celebration the very presence of Dr. C. Chandran, Chairman, was overwhelming. He spoke on the importance of tradition to the enthusiastic students. The guest speaker of the day was Mr. Jothi Vel, who is a farmer by profession, was honored by Dr. C. Chandran . He shared his invaluable words on the importance of Agriculture. Sweet Pongal was prepared and distributed. Pongal celebrations at QMIS was truly a manifestation of the rich Tamil Culture and traditions.
